Devon Fireside was a great leader, the second in command for Night, leader of the spirit elementals. No one questioned his love of his people, no one questioned his ability to lead, He was ruthless, unmerciful, and wise. He got the job done, and he got it done quickly. But even the greatest fall at one point.
It was a struggle on the border line between the two camps. The fight was a fierce one, and neither side wanted to give up the claim to victory. Fireside spotted the Day's light leader sneaking into a cave. Fireside quickly followed him in. With the battle raging all around, no one saw the great spirit leader go into the cave.
Day finally retreated, and Night started to regroup and count the dead. No one could find Fireside. Then a fire elemental led Andromeda to the cave. Andromeda quickly sent everyone but the leaders back to camp, instructing them to start burying the dead.
Inside, the leaders found the mutilated body of their leader. He was laying on his stomach, head cocked to the side. His eyes were wide with fright, looking into the dark recesses of the cave with an expression that no one had ever seen on this fearless leaders face. His body was covered with cuts, long and deep. When they turned him over, they found the same long cuts on that side of his body.
Now the cave where Fireside died is no longer safe. The people of both tribes call the area Fireside in respect of the leader that died, and the cave where his spirit now resided is avoided by all but the bravest. For Fireside is no longer a safe person. The traits he had that made him great as a human now make him stand out as one of the most feared spirits in time. Any that enter the cave find that their powers are useless, and the great Fireside now requires a fee if they want to keep their life... if he gives you a choice at all. If you enter the cave, there are two things that could happen. Fireside can kill you immediately, or he can offer you something, usually something you won't like, that you either accept... or you die.
